With CoolSculpting®, You Can Freeze the Fat Away!

Posted June 26, 2018 in Non-Surgical Enhancement

Skinny woman in jean shortsNo matter how much you diet or exercise, sometimes there’s that little bit of extra fat that you just can’t seem to get rid of—but that’s okay, because here at Specialists In Plastic Surgery, we have the solution for you, CoolSculpting®.

What Is CoolSculpting?

If you don’t want to go under-the-knife but still have unwanted fat accumulation, CoolSculpting may be right for you. CoolSculpting is an FDA-cleared fat reduction procedure and is the only non-surgical way to eliminate fat using a patented, cooling technology.

CoolSculpting takes advantage of a unique cooling process known as cryolipolysis to cool and freeze the fat cells without damaging the skin. Once frozen, the cells crystallize and the membrane dissolves. In the following weeks, your body naturally processes the fat and eliminates the dead cells. What’s even better is that once the fat cells are gone, they’re gone for good.

What Should I Expect During and After the Procedure?

A gel pad and specialized applicator are applied to the targeted area. During the first few minutes, you may experience some tingling and slight discomfort along with an intense cold pressure. As the area numbs itself, however, you can expect any discomfort to lessen. In fact, most of our North Carolina patients find the CoolSculpting treatment comfortable enough to read a book, watch tv, or check email.

You can expect little to no downtime with CoolSculpting. Typical side effects include numbness, redness, swelling and bruising, but these are all temporary. As the fat cells die off and are processed, you will start to see some fat reduction in the first three to four weeks and will experience the most dramatic results after three months.

Am I a Good Candidate for CoolSculpting?

Good candidates are close to their ideal weight but are just having trouble shedding fat in certain parts of their body, like their belly, inner and outer thighs, upper arms and neck. CoolSculpting is not a replacement for diet and exercise, as it only eliminates fat in the treated areas, so you’ll want to continue to maintain your weight after completing CoolSculpting.

What Makes CoolSculpting at Specialists in Plastic Surgery Unique?

Everyone’s body is different, so we help cater the treatment specifically for you. We understand that you want to look your best in as little time as possible. While some of our patients may see results in as little as one visit, many see ideal results after two to three CoolSculpting sessions. At Specialists in Plastic Surgery, we are careful to create a customized plan to best ensure that you can achieve the body you want. Sometimes this customized plan may include surgery as a better option rather than CoolSculpting. Our surgeons will always have your best interest in mind.
