BOTOX® Cosmetic is an excellent option for healthy adults between 18 and 65 who are concerned about dynamic wrinkles around the face and neck. Ideal candidates include those with the following characteristics:

Anyone pregnant, nursing, or with a history of neuromuscular diseases may not be a candidate for BOTOX® Cosmetic.

BOTOX® Cosmetic has been FDA-approved for over 20 years, and the company that manufactures it continues to adhere to rigorous quality and safety requirements. However, as with any product, there are some side effects.

You may have swelling, bruising, redness, or itching at the injection site, but these effects are generally mild and short-lived. Rare but more serious side effects include allergic reactions, flu-like symptoms, headache, fatigue, or drooping eyelids. We address these potential side effects at your consultation so you’re aware of them beforehand.

BOTOX® Cosmetic is formulated using botulinum toxin type A, a neurotoxin. Neurotoxins target the nervous system, and when small doses are injected into the muscles that cause lines and wrinkles, they block the signaling process between the neurons that activate the muscles responsible for your dynamic expressions. By preventing these muscle contractions, the visibility of the active lines and wrinkles on your face is greatly diminished.

BOTOX® Cosmetic often takes effect within four or five days, and results last three or four months. Regular injections are necessary to maintain your results, and if you are consistent with your treatments, you will not only see a reduction in the existing lines on your face, but you will notice that fewer new lines are forming. This is because regular injections of BOTOX® Cosmetic can “train” the affected muscles to stay relaxed, keeping ALL dynamic wrinkles at bay. Contrary to myths about how BOTOX® Cosmetic “freezes” your face, there is no need to worry — you will still be able to smile and frown as desired, but creases and wrinkles will appear much softer and less noticeable.
