Thigh Lift in Raleigh, NC

Following the success of major weight loss, many are faced with the reality of unsightly excess skin and fat present on the inner and outer thighs. A thigh lift, also known as thighplasty, can surgically remove this persistent fat and loose skin to reveal a slimmer body profile.

Who Should Get a Thigh Lift?

Aging, gravity, loss of skin elasticity, and weight fluctuations can all contribute to an accumulation of excess tissue on the thighs. Thigh lift surgery in Raleigh, NC, can benefit people who are motivated to tighten and improve the contour of their thighs.

Candidates for a thigh lift are:

  • In generally good health
  • At a stable body weight
  • Realistic about the risks, benefits, and outcome
  • Bothered by the appearance of their thighs and motivated to improve their shape.

Through a combination of liposuction and excision (tissue removal) techniques, a thigh lift can significantly improve the size, shape, and contour of your thighs. Other body contouring procedures may be performed in conjunction with a thigh lift to create an overall slimmer appearance.

Thigh lift surgery may not be right for everyone. The best way to find out if you are an ideal candidate is to schedule a personal consultation, so we can discuss factors such as your health history and your goals for body contouring.

What to Expect During Your Thigh Lift

A thigh lift takes two to three hours and is typically performed under general anesthesia. There are a few different thigh lift techniques, including the medial thigh lift, inner thigh lift, and outer thigh lift. When possible, incisions are hidden in the natural contours of the body to conceal scarring.

As the incisions are made, the excess skin and fat will be removed and tightened. When necessary, liposuction can remove localized fat deposits. After reshaping the thighs, incisions are closed with temporary drains to collect fluid buildup. The treated area will also be wrapped in gauze and an elastic compression bandage to minimize excessive swelling and bruising.

Thigh Lift Surgery Overview

After surgery, we will provide you with specific aftercare instructions and prescribe oral medication to manage your discomfort. After surgery, it is common for patients to experience swelling, bruising, and discomfort in the treated areas. Patients are encouraged to start walking as soon as possible. Most patients are mobile within a few days, but strenuous activities should be postponed for several weeks.

Recovery times vary among patients, but most are able to resume work and other normal activities within one to three weeks of surgery. The results of your thigh lift will become gradually apparent over the course of several weeks as swelling and bruising begin to subside. It may take several months for incision lines to fade and flatten.

Understanding the Risks of a Thigh Lift

All surgical procedures present a degree of risk and uncertainty. These risks will be discussed with you in-depth during the consultation process. Some risks associated with thigh lift surgery may include blood clots, infection, adverse reaction to anesthesia, hematoma, nerve damage, and excessive scarring.
