What Is a Mini-Tummy Tuck?

Posted June 30, 2021 in TUMMY TUCK

A couple surfing at the beachNo matter how many crunches you do, sometimes that little bit of that poochy tummy remains. Exercise and a healthy diet don’t seem to be working, but maybe you’re not quite ready for a tummy tuck – a mini-tummy tuck may be the solution for you!

What is the difference between a tummy tuck and a mini-tummy tuck?

It all depends on the amount of excess fat and skin you have. A mini-tummy tuck is recommended for patients with a minimal amount of fat and skin that is located below the navel. A full tummy tuck, as well as liposuction, is usually recommended if a patient has more fat and skin.

What are the benefits of a mini-tummy tuck?

As the name suggests, a mini-tummy tuck is a less complicated procedure than a full tummy tuck. Although you will have a scar, it will be smaller than one from a full tummy tuck. This procedure takes an hour or 2, as opposed to a full tummy tuck, which can take up to 5 hours.

The mini-tummy tuck procedure is less invasive than a full tummy tuck, but you will still need time to recover. You’ll be sore and swollen for a few days afterwards, and you’ll need at least a week to heal before you go back to work. You should also avoid strenuous activity, such as intense exercise, for about 6 weeks.

Who should consider a mini-tummy tuck?

You should be in good shape physically and at a healthy, stable weight. You should also have realistic expectations – any kind of a tummy tuck is not a substitute for a good, healthy diet and an exercise regimen. However, if you are in good shape and yet your stomach still looks bloated no matter what you’ve tried, a tummy tuck can help.

There are differences between a full and a mini-tummy tuck, but the results are the same – a toned and contoured tummy without the pooch. If you are interested in what a mini-tummy tuck can do for you, call Specialists in Plastic Surgery in Raleigh, North Carolina today! Call (919) 785-0505.
