The process of injecting neurotoxin, fillers, and Kybella requires a certain skill set to achieve a natural-looking result. We hire only the most qualified nurse injectors who have extensive training and experience in administering nonsurgical treatments in a safe and effective manner.
Loss of facial volume is a common age-related problem for many people. The resulting wrinkles, lines, and folds can make you appear older and less vibrant than you feel.
Today, we can correct this problem with injectable fillers, a non-invasive treatment that can augment the tissue and temporarily correct wrinkles and folds. We have many different types of injectable fillers, including fillers made with hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite, poly-L-lactic acid, and more.
Who Can Benefit from Injectable Fillers?
Most of today’s popular injectable fillers are made with hyaluronic acid, a naturally occuring ingredient in your tissue. Acting as a hydrator, cell protector and cushioning agent, hyaluronic acid restores youthful volume in your skin.
Other popular injectable fillers use ingredients that stimulate gradual collagen deposition, creating a long-lasting reduction of wrinkles and folds. Fillers differ from Botulinum neurotoxin. Instead of acting on the facial muscles like Botox does, injectable fillers augment the tissue to restore lost volume and correct skin depressions.
Injectable fillers can treat a wide variety of skin conditions:
- Nasolabial folds
- Marionette lines
- Lipstick lines
- Hollow under eyes
- Sunken cheeks
- Crow’s feet
During a consultation, we’ll determine if injectable filler treatments can achieve your goals for cosmetic enhancement. Fillers are usually ideal for people who don’t have the time or desire for cosmetic surgery. Although the results are temporary, a filler can rejuvenate your appearance for six months to one year. With regular follow-up appointments, you can maintain your new youthful appearance.
What to Expect During Your Injectable Filler Treatment
An injectable filler treatment is relatively quick and comfortable. First, we cleanse the treatment site and apply a topical anesthetic (if necessary) to ensure your comfort. We carefully inject the filler into the wrinkle or depression and then massage the area to promote a smooth result. The entire treatment can be finished within 30 minutes or less.
After Your Treatment
After treatment, you may have some swelling, tenderness or redness, which will subside in a short time. Indirect application of ice (as directed) to the treatment area can help manage these effects. How long your results last will depend on the product and the area(s) that are treated. The results of an injectable filler treatment will typically last less than a year as that is the time it takes your body to naturally break down the substance and clear it away.
Understanding the Risks of Injectable Fillers
When injectable fillers are administered by a qualified practitioner, side effects are infrequent and usually minor in nature. Nonetheless, people vary in their anatomy, their physical reactions to medications, and their healing abilities, so the outcome of treatment is never completely predictable. Like other injections, risks include infection, abscesses, open sores, scarring, lumpiness, and skin peeling, which may persist over the treated area.
Possible side effects of hyaluronic acid include redness, pain, firmness, swelling, lumps/bumps, bruising, itching, and discoloration. With collagen, the risk of allergic reaction is increased. To help determine if you are allergic to the substance, we will perform an allergy skin test about a month before the procedure. After the test is performed, the test site should be watched carefully for three or four weeks or longer. Report any sign of redness, itching, swelling or other occurrences at the test site. An alternative to injectable fillers is fat transfer. With this treatment, allergic reaction is not a concern because the fat is harvested from your own body.
