Computerized Skin Care Analysis by VISIA®

Great skin care starts with great skin analysis! VISIA™ Computerized Skin Analysis is an exciting technological and scientific innovation that uses a multi-spectral imaging system to identify problem areas of your complexion, allowing for a customized skin treatment program that specifically targets these problem areas.

VISIA™ Computerized Skin Analysis uses multi-spectral imaging to reveal damage on and beneath the surface of our skin that is not detectable by visual examination alone. VISIA imaging allows our expert skin care specialists to evaluate your skins' health and appearance based on six criteria that affect your complexion:
  • Spots: Spots are typically brown or read skin lesions including freckles, acne scars, hyper-pigmentation and vascular lesions. Spots are distinguishable by their distinct color and contrast from the background skin tone. Spots vary in size and generally have a circular shape.
  • Pores: Pores are the circular surface openings of sweat gland ducts. Due to shadowing, pores appear darker than the surrounding skin tone and are identified by their darker color and circular shape. The Visia system distinguishes pores from spots based on size the area of a pore is much smaller than a spot.
  • Wrinkles: Wrinkles are furrows, folds or creases in the skin which increase in occurrence as a result of sun exposure. Wrinkles are associated with decreasing skin elasticity and are identified by their characteristic long, narrow shape. Winkles have variability depending on facial expression.
  • Texture: Texture is primarily an analysis of skin smoothness. Texture measures smoothness by identifying gradations in color from the surrounding skin tone, and well as peaks (shown in yellow) and valleys (shown in blue) on the skin surface that indicate variation in the surface texture.
  • Porphyrins: Porphyrins are bacterial excretions that can become lodged in pores and lead to acne. Porphyrins fluoresce in UV light and exhibit circular whit spot characteristics.
  • UV Spots: UV spots occur when melanin coagulates below the skin surface as a result of sun damage. UV spots are generally invisible under normal lighting conditions. The selective absorption of the UV light by the epidermal melanin enhances its display and detection by Visia.
VISIA also uses comparative data with other women and men of the same age and ethnicity to provide additional information about your complexion results. You are given a copy of this report which includes the details of your imaging, recommendations for treatment, and skin care options. This helps serve as a basis for you to compare your progress on your skin rejuvenation process.

Plan a targeted treatment program based on your individual profile
The color report generated by the Visia® software that you are given will be used to develop an individualized skin care regimen created by your esthetician and based on your unique complexion requirements. With the abundance of anti-aging creams on the market, spa treatments and the availability of various surgical procedures to combat the aging process, it can be difficult to determine which products or procedures are really best for you. The Visia® computerized analysis removes the guesswork, providing an accurate baseline report on the present condition of your skin while also offering an invaluable guide for skin rejuvenation.

Maintain lasting complexion health
Based on your personal profile, your facial rejuvenation program will include recommendations for ongoing skincare health. Your Visia® diagnostic results will be used to monitor the effectiveness of your personalized skincare regimen over time and help you obtain optimal improvement in your skin color and texture.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does it take to perform a VISIA Computerized Skin Analysis?
We usually schedule forty-five minutes to one hour for a VISIA Computerized Skin Analysis during a one-on-one skin care consultation and evaluation. During the appointment, your medical esthetician will examine your complexion and ask you to complete a Skin Care Evaluation Form to become acquainted with your skincare routine, allergies and any skin health issues. She'll discuss how you'd like to improve your skin, perform the Visia Computerized Skin Analysis, discuss product and treatment recommendations based on the results and also address how you can improve your complexion through nutrition.

How often do I need to have a VISIA Computerized Skin Analysis?
A copy of your initial VISIA Computerized Skin Analysis, which provides a baseline on the health of your skin, will be electronically filed in your VISIA skin care chart. Depending on your skin condition and goals, your medical esthetician may choose to perform additional analyses to measure the effectiveness of your treatment plans and cosmetic product usage. This will help to scientifically determine further treatment options. Your initial evaluation also serves as a baseline in which to compare your progress. When you receive additional analyses using the VISIA, you will be able to look at a scientific side by side comparison of how much your skin has improved when you compare your most recent analysis report to your baseline report.

Will I experience any discomfort during the session?
No. There is no discomfort involved in the VISIA Computerized Skin Analysis. During the analysis, there will be two special photographs taken of your face. One will be an ultraviolet photo and the other will be a digital photo.

Is there a minimum age recommendation for a VISIA session?
No. A VISIA Computerized Skin Analysis can be done at any age. It is typically done when a skin health issue needs to be addressed with a facial rejuvenation program or a preventative program.

What is the cost of a Computerized Skin Analysis?
To encourage as many individuals as possible to undergo this simple process, there is no charge or purchases required to get this valuable analysis. The results from the VISIA Computerized Skin Analysis are interpreted and explained by an experienced medical esthetician. This one-on-one skin consultation is also complimentary. If your esthetician determines that additional analyses are needed after completion of services and products usage, these VISIA analyses will also be provided by your esthetician on a complimentary basis.
